AN INSIDE STORY OF SCREENING TEST IN SSB

Screening test is the first step in SSB. After screening test, candidates who pass it, are further tested for more days.Screening test is considered one of the trickiest test and most of screened out candidates think that luck works in screening test ( but in my views, individual’s ability works there). Yes, sometimes a deserving candidate gets S O due to poor show of group members but it doesn’t happen everytime. Repeaters had observed that well prepared candidates got screen out while normal candidates got screen in. Just think that some of the repeaters get screened in continously & some get screened out. Why it happens ?
Sometimes we lost our original thoughts by practicing very hard. Normal candidates write what come to their mind.
Instead of analysing their performance, S O candidates blame the SSB for not designing a fool proof screening test and also blame their luck. In order to remove misconception, I am sharing my views that can help you to get screened in. We are going to discuss every question about screening test one by one. Lets start.

firstly visit this link to clarify all your doubts related to ppdt —-

Most of freshers and some of repeaters ask whether reasoning is imp or not.
I want to make it clear that if a test is formulated then definitly it is imp. But PPDT is the main test that will extend your stay at ssb centre. Reasoning determine your OIR and good performance enhance your chances to get screened in but without performing well in PPDT, You cant make it to next level.

Now come to the PPDT (M Imp).

Myths about PPDT :- Friends it is taught in coaching centres that we should make hero of our story of our age & sex. Its true but to some extent, if character shown in picture is a young girl then how a male candidate can choose a male hero in that story. If our perception is wrong in PPDT then how can psychologist expect from us that we will percieve suitable characters in TAT. My point is that we should choose our hero as shown in pic. Also read

Now comes to mood, we should mention +ve mood as priority. If expression are not clear then we should mention neutral.
DON’T MENTION -VE MOOD.

Age:- of our hero should be between 20 – 30 years and must match with his profession , qualification. For eg. 20 yrs old person can’t be doctor, bank manager or teacher. Other characters could be of different age group. (If there is only one old person in pic , he should be the hero irrespective pf his age.) Hero must be from pic.

Lets come to story writing. Biggest mistake is committed in this part. Before SSB, No. of SSB aspirants ask about themes for PPDT & TAT . They write their story on the basis of preconcieved themes which generally doesn’t match with pic. Some of themes are based on agriculture reforms, construction of school & hospital in village, awereness pgme, educationg rural people etc. Story may be based on them but should match with pic. Theme should be short term goal like picnic & birthday party, organising cricket match, exam prepration, assisting other etc. My mean to say that aim should be accomplished within a short span of time & aim should be accomlishable.
Hint :- While looking at pic , we should observe corner of pic in clockwise and anticlockwise direction followed by centre. In this way , we might get clue for our theme & our story will be real. Think of an idea involving all characters and background instead of a preconcieved theme. If any idea is not coming out, then write introduction of your hero and left remaining part of your story. When you get a break b/w story writing & discussion, you can think of a good idea for your story that resembles pic also. Complete your story verbally for narration. ( Nobody is going to see your written story). Keep your as simple as you can. Write story on day to day activities.

Narration & Disscussion:- if you havn’t performed your best in reasoning and story, don’t mind, this is the last chance for you to impress the assessors. Here you are directly judge by them. Your activities can impress them or can spoil your game. You must be extra cautious here. In my opinion, Narration alone can make or break your chance of success in screening test. We exhibit our confidence level, speech delivery, eye contacts, word selection, thought process and social activities through narration. We must prepare ourself for narration during break time. More practice we do , more confidence we get. Repeat story atleast 20 times during break. Words should come out automatically. During narration time, listen story of other candidates (atleast of those having similar story with you. It will help you in discussion). Keep your narration as short as you can( they will alott you 1 minute time to narrate your story but hardly give 45 seconds). Dont elaborate everything. Your characters identification, their age, gender & mood should be finished in single line which will provide you extra time for your story. Speak loudly & clearly. Maintain eye contacts & posture. Restrict body movements. In this way, you can perform better in narration. Also Read

Discussion :- This is the last opportunity to get in. A leader always brings consensus in his team, positively argue, appreciate his team member, ensures all members participation. A leader never impose his decision on his team. In the same way, don’t promote own story if someone has better story than you. Always support a good story that justify with characters shown in pic and have a positive outcome. Motivate group member too to support such story. One of the misconception among candidates is that their chances of getting screen in become prominent when they speak too many times. Speaking too many times show domination. Try to avoid it. Speak only 2-3 times when all group members listen you. Partcipating only for 10 seconds when everyone is listening you is far better than 5 minutes in sabji mandi.
Some of candidates directly jump over theme of the story. They don’t have time to discuss about character, age & their mood. They want to direct a movie without hero. First of all, no. of characters should be discussed, background of picture( help you to support your theme),theme, hero and role of other characters. Some of candidates promote current affairs in disscussion by saying that naxalism( terrorism, poverty, illiteracy, women empowerment, agriculture etc) is biggest problem facing our country therefore our story should be based on these themes. Tell me why they have shown a picture. Always relate your story with background of the picture. Speak politely, ensure everyone should get a chance, NEVER speak in sabji mandi (First of all try to pacify group if none is listening you then mainain peace and listen them. Behave like gentleman, you have already done your job in story writing and narration.) By performing normally , we can positive results.

Career planning is like finding suitable fiance with whom we can remain happy during whole life. A wrong decision in choosing career makes life vulnerable. Once we are in a job then it becomes very hard to change it if circumstances are not favourable. So career planning should be meticulously worked out. Here i am summarising some of important aspects for career.
1. MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING – whenever we watch out for jobs, our first question is about salary. But to me , Salary comes after work environment and future in that job. Suppose you are getting a handsome salary and living an awesome life but cant keep your family with you for months.

Then that money is useless. Important aspects of career planning includes your interested field, posting area like international ,domestic, state, distt whether rural or urban area, salary , perks, future in that job, nature of work and future after retirement. Now a days , most of youngesters choose their career on basis of salary and regret their decision later. Before applying for any job, we need to contact a person in that job who can aware us about ground reality. That’s all , the INDIANJOBPROFILE team will do for you.
